Dear
Thanks very much to you andi for making the
arrangements for the mEmbers of the Colgate-Washington
Study Group, myself, and my wife to meet with dir. Paul
Walsh.
I thought he did an excellent job of discussing the Agencvts
research and analysis function. He also did very well in
the discussion period which followed his presentation.
We certai nir cane away with an improved understanding of
the Ag;ennv's supporting role in policy-making and also,
I think, with a better grasp of the importance of CIA
to American policy.
Should I bring the Grouo to WWshi ngton again next Sori ng,
I hope we can make the same or similar arrangements for
a briefing on the Agency's role in foreign policy.
I did appreciate making late arrangements
for my wife to accrmpa.rv the group to the interview.
With best wishes, I remain
S' a y r~rTl r s f7
