OPTIONAL FORM NO. 10 5010-107 MAY GSA 1 . Epc ved For ReIe a 2005/11/23: CIA-RDP80B01495RO 000500 UNITED STATES GOVERNMENT Memorandum ? Director of Basic Geographic Intelligence DATE: 16 kpril 1971 FROM Deputy Chief of Cartography Division SUBJECT: The Peterson Package, Per Your Request 1. The briefing package for Mr. Peterson, the President the President's Counselor on International Economic Policy, was a major exercise in the Division, involving the full-time efforts of four people most of the time and ten people some of the time. The first production cycle, 25 March to 9 April, took 439 man-hours to complete, including 151 hours of overtime. 2. The second production cycle, 12 April to 15 4pril, took 45 man-hours, including four hours of overtime. It involved several new boards and innumerable chanIes to the old ones. 3. Needless to say, this achievement was made possible by the positive attitude of the Printing Services Division (we take our own for granted) who made every effort to make our interim deadlines as well as the final one. 4. OER, supplied most of the raw data. worked directly with Mr. Peterson on arranging it. The total product will be: 57 30" x 40" boards 57 page-size photo prints 57 35 mm slides ;?00 color copies, page-size, of each board 5. It is our understanding the briefing has been given to the Cabinet and to Governor Rockefeller, in New York. It is also to be given at Camp David over the weekend. li Approved For Release 2005/11/23 : CIA-RDP80B01495R000200050017-0 Buy U.S. Savings Bonds Regularly on the Payroll Savings Plan STAT Approved For Release 2005/11/23 : CIA-RDP80BO1495R000200050017-0 ,/ Ed Proctor J This is only a partial accounting of Cartography Division's support for Mr. Peterson. I believe that Ed Allen will be making a similar report. Although a "successful" effort, I'd like to underline that it was possible only because our graphics people were not under the gun for NSC or Congressional briefings and were *ble to slip a number of other projects that could not compete for this priority, although they were indeed important. In short, it was a great piece of work, but as a way of life we AI quite be able to hack it. Approved For Release 2x05/11/23 : CIA-RI)P80B01495R000200050017-0
