MEMORANDUM FOR:
SUBJECT Deletion of Classification Authority
Delegations
1. At Mr. Colby's request, we have taken a close
look at our list of positions with security classification
authority and have deleted as many as we could and still
adhere to the terms of Executive Order 11652. Mr. Colby
now has advised that he wishes us to proceed with the
deletion of the SECRET and below authority delegations.
Mr. Colby's office will initiate action to delete a few
TOP SECRET delegations.
2. I have attached the list of positions to be
deleted for your office/staff. I have informed
of these proposed deletions, and wil nform
e ice of Personnel so that the recuruS be brought
up to date.
3. Those people who have had their classification
authority withdrawn will invoke the number of their
immediate superior from now on in classifying documents.
Please bring this to the attention of the appropriate
people in your office. If you or any of your people
have any questions, please do not hesitate to call me.
