SUBJECT : DDI Activities Since 8 April 1975
1. Since your departure, things have been quite active on the
NSC front, primarily because of the deteriorating military situation
in Indochina and concern over evacuation. There have been six WSAGs
and two National Security Council meetings on Indochina, the latest
on 24 April.
2. In addition, the SRG met on the Panama Canal issue and the
Verification Panel discussed the Non-Proliferation Treaty.

6. The Director, on 16 April, expressed some concern over the
continuing invulnerability of the SR-71. The DDI has requested of Admiral
Moffit, J-3/JCS, a current reassessment of the risk to SR-71s by the Cuban
air defense network.

The want a heavy concentration on Soviet activities in
the Indian cean. Time permitting, they would also like an update
on the strategic missiles picture. I understand Carl Duckett is
working on this and is prepared to join you in the briefing.
3. OSR is preparing drafts on the Indian Ocean and will
be in touch with you and to refine them. OSR and OCI
stand ready to provide specia is s or backup support or to do
portions of the briefing -- whichever you wish.
