This letter will advise you of our intention to conduct a
survey of the management of U. S. trade policy towards developing
nations. Our survey will focus on the various Government policies,
procedures, and programs concerning U. S. -LDC trade relations.
The survey is intended to familiarize ourselves with Government
and private activities in this significant area. Initially, we will be
concentrating on identifying which executive branch agencies have
programs impacting on U. S. -LDC trade, their objectives, policies,
practices and procedures, interactions with the private sector, and
the like. Later we expect to get more deeply involved in matters
warranting attention.
The work will be performed by the Trade and Finance Group
of the International Division and should last several months.
The code number for this assignment is 48253. We would
appreciate the assistance of your Office in notifying appropriate
officials of our survey and in arranging to make available to us
information needed to complete this assignment. We would be
pleased to meet with you or your representatives to discuss our
interests and objectives.
