SEC author, will present the paper, probably assisted
by one other analyst. The meeting is sponsored jointly
by the Office of Naval Research; the Office of the
Chief of Staff, Department of the Army; and the Assist-
ant Chief of Staff, Studies and Analysis, United States
Air Force. Presentations and discussions may be as
high as Secret.
2. The Themel lis "Contributions
of Operations Researc to TH-e-Defense Decision Process."
The intent is to view operations research from the
decision makers standpoint, given such challenges to
analysis as the increasing complexity of threat pro-
jections, the diversity of national goals and con-.
straints and the growth of technological advances.
This is, in essence, the analysis and presentations of
uncertainty. Our paper presents the issues and uncer-
tainties currently facing policy makers with regard to
the future survivability of the US land-based ICBM
force. We feel it to be a useful example of the impact
of threat projections to present before professionals
in the field of military operations research.
3. Our presentation will serve two further goals.
.We. have a large investment in force effectiveness
aalysis. Those tools and techniques which we apply to
analytical problems must continue to develop through
use and particularly through critical and constructive
.review by professional military operations analysts.

We must continually seek to acquire. new methods as well
as new applications of e methods. Attendance at
professional conferences will keep us 25X1
abreast of operations research "state-of-the-art."
Further, any exposure of OSR before: a critical and
professional audience will serve to "open doors."
enhance our credibility, and foster & greater recep-
tivity for our product.
