SUBJECT DIA Comments on KIQs
(Numbers 51-
1. The DIA general comment contains an inaccurate
assertion to the effect that the KIQs have
been changed from being fairly spec is to very broad. The
fact is they are just as specific as before, perhaps even
more so, but simply reorganized in a more cogent and man-
ageable fashion.
2. Having said this, I find the DIA specific sug-
gestions for adding military questions to be generally OK.
I would hope we could simply note at USIB that these specific
suggestions are agreeable and will be accommodated in the
next edition -- though not necessarily in precisely the same
language.

the superpower balance and the affairs of the region?
Include how these policies are affected by public
opinion, the political balance within and out-
side the ruling party, US policy and other in-
ternational developments.
50. What developments -- domestic or international -- are
likely to seriously undermine the political or economic sta-
bility of either North or South Korea, alter the essential
military balance on the peninsula, and increase the possibility
