MEMORANDUM FOR THE RECORD
SUBJECT: Telephone Call from
1_ At 1125 on 18 November. I had a telephone call from
She called on my public telephone number
2. She was lodging a complaint against the activities of the FBI,
the CIA and the Roman Catholic Church to harass her, open her mail, monitor
her telephone calls, flights of airplanes over her house to keep track
of her. She is 70 years old and a graduate of Vassar College.
3. She sounded, in fact, like a very well-educated woman with a very
strong and prejudiced view about possible governmental interference in her
personal affairs.
4. I politely suggested that she write to the Intelligence Oversight
Board to register her complaint because it was clearly more to her interest
to have someone investigate the CIA other than myself. I asked her to write
down the name and address of the Intelligence Oversight Board and she did
so.
5. Our conversation was amicable and she concluded by saying that I
sounded like far too nice a person to head the CIA!
