Secretary Vance said that he would like to have INR draw more upon our economic analytic talent. He thinks that we can be of greater service to them in this area and would like to tap our capabilities. I told him we would be pleased to take tasking from them. Request Bob Bowie make contact with Hal Saunders and be sure that we are aware of the areas in which State would like economic analysis done. 3. Secretary Vance indicated some disquiet within State over a briefing I had given the President on Middle East economics. I can only assume this was a briefing on the economic prospects following peace in Middle East. I'd appreciate it if DDI would check. with INR and find where they believe we were off base.
