Dear Senator Bellmon:
I appreciated all of your comments during my several
testimonies in front of you on the world energy situation. I
particularly appreciated your passing Mr. Parker's letter to me.
I've asked our energy experts to review it in detail. They were
very grateful to have the opportunity to read Mr. Parker's report
to you. My experts have given me a memorandum with their comments
on each of the key points Mr. Parker raises. In the thought that
this might be of interest to you, I'm taking the liberty of enclos-
ing a copy. In essence, we don't really dispute Mr. Parker's
theses; we believe that when you put them into the perspective of
the world's total energy resources and problems they probably do
not provide.a full solution.
Nonetheless, your and Mr. Parker's concerns have alerted us
to pay particular attention to these kinds of indicators, and we
will certainly do so even more attentively in the future.
