SEC#I Approved For Rel se 20OWpt(ilatb PAPE~9gQIPA4RQ0033300210020-5 Washington, D. C. 20505 16 October 1979 MEMORANDUM FOR: The Honorable Hans Mark Secretary of the Air Force SUBJECT: Comments on Your Final Report 1. Thanks for your excellent summing up in your final report to Secretary Brown and me of 5 October 1979 and for the kind words in the last paragraph. I appreciated the perspective which you have left with us of where the National Reconnaissance Program is going. It is very helpful and I will do my best to keep it moving in the directions you have -4.14-ems 2.. Specifically, I endorse your idea of declassifying the role of the National Reconnaissance Office and will work with Secretary Brown towards doing that. It seems to me the preferred way to do that would be without any fanfare--just a Quiet unclassified reference to the Office that would break the ice. 3. Most of all I want to thank you for the superb way in which you have managed the program over these past two-plus years and for the superb working relationship we have enjoyed. It has been a real pleasure, and especiall because I think we have accomplished something for the nation. STANSFIELD TURNER 25X1 25X1 Approved For Release 20Q SECRET
