Approved For Rele sse 2005/01/13 : CIA-RDP80BO1554RO03300250028-3 1 June 1979 MEMORANDUM FOR: Deputy Director for Operations FROM: Director of Central Intelligence SUBJECT: ONFAC Cooperation 1. I wonder if you should try to make arrangements with NFAC on prior distribution of unclassified publications to =offices. It STAT occurs to me that if ourlffices could provide these unclassified releases to the major companies with whom they maintain contact, it would help that relationship considerably. It is particularly embarrassing, I suggest, if the companies read in the newspaper that we have released something and call 0 and are unable even to get any STAT information about it. It would seem to me that NFAC could give you these in time to get them intolands at least for distribution STAT simultaneously with public release. 2. Beyond this, I am curious as to what measures you take to insure a dialogue between Il officers and NFAC analysts. It seems to me that the case o' i cars could do their job a lot better if they had some opportunity to be in contact with analysts from time to time in the areas in which they are providing information. I recognize there must be some channel for the analyst to tell the officer what STAT he wants, but how good is the feedback either on the qua i y of the 77 STANSFIELD TURNER cc: DDNF-A STAT Approved For Release 2005/01/13 : CIA-RDP80BO1554R003300250028-3
