Approved For Reese 20~$~i~ti~' OIIA~i~~@5~54R0~,300270010-0 Washington, D. C. ZOSOS 20 April 1979 Dear Ben, :[ appreciate your nice note. There are, however, several points of confusion. :[ have not recently acquired a new daughter-in-law--unless my son has become a bigamist. Perhaps you have Vice Admiral Fred Turner in mind, although I don`t know if he has recently taken on a daughter- in-law either. Additionally, I am hardly in an "all-ar-nothing" status. with respect to my article. I hardly consider reducing an 11-page article to four pages as a matter of editing however. It defies me to understand why, because there is some similarity with my Baca Raton speech, you would be reluctant to print the other seven pages. There were a few hundr?ed people in Boca Raton and there has beetin linvted distr=ibution of the text since then. -Ben Schemmer`s article appeared in toto in a nation-wide magazine with an extensive circulation and yet there was no reluctance on your-part to print it without ed%ting and with additions.. In short,. while you profess to rae ini:erested in "new rnateria1?' only, there was nothing new in tf~e Schemmer piece? My objective-was to give balance to your readers, not to refutes Schemrner. Now that you have let so much time pass, I would prefer to publish elsewhere. Sorry this one didn't work out--I t}ought I f7ad made a good: and timely offer. a Mr. BE~njamin C.
