1. I found your intelligence assessment, "Zaire: Incoherence
and Deca_Y in an Autocracy," very useful and very readable. Good
work. II
2. I hope you will keep a close eye on the production of
copper and cobalt from Shaba. It's interesting that the 1978
production was up over 1977 despite the period of inactivity and
the loss of expatriates. I understand your predictions for 1979
and will be interested to see how they materialize at various points
along the calendar. II
:3. Beyond that, if the unseating of Mobuto begins to look more
and more likely, I would suggest we might do a short piece on the
alternative power structures that may take over. F]
