Approved For RelSe 2005/02/02: CIA-RDP80B01554R000280039-8 2 March 1979 MEMORANDUM FOR: Deputy Director for Administration FROM: Director of Central Intelligence SUBJECT: Medals Awarded by CIA to Agency Employees 1. Your response to my memorandum of 15 February was exactly what.I wanted. Now I would like to take a more comprehensive look at the situation. With the exception of the retirement medallion, please provide the following data on all medals awarded from 1977 through 1979: -- brief description of purpose of award (e.g., "for exceptional valor," etc.); -- grade and directorate of recipients for each category of award; -- how many in each category given upon retirement. 2. I would also appreciate some general data regarding the Certificates of Distinction and Merit. How many of these have we awarded in the past three years? (A breakdown by Directorate and grade would be useful, but I don't want your people to get bogged down in a major effort.)
