The President yesterday directed a series of actions designed to
minimize the impact of the current airline strike. These actions
are intended to make certain that our military requirements for
air transportation are met, to continue operations at Cape Kennedy
with the least possible interference, to minimize the inconvenience
to the public, and to make certain that the mail continues to be
delivered with minimum delay.
In keeping with his objective of reducing the impact of the strike,
the President desires that all Cabinet and Agency Heads reduce
travel by employees of their Departrnents,.for the duration of the
strike, to the minimum necessary to carry on the public business.
I should appreciate it if you would take the necessary steps to see
that this is accomplished within your Agency.
