I wish to express to you my sincere appreciation for the
assistance of Dr. Herbert Scoville, Jr.
and
ALU Commissioners on June 15, 1950*
in briefing the
Dr. Scoville's opening remarks andl fable presenta-
tion of the material on the Soviet atomic energy program were
well received and were very inforriative to those of the Com-
mission who had not previously been briefed on the specific
information. I feel certain that, as a result of the briefing,
the Commissioners have a better understanding of the intel-
ligence processes and the nature of limitations inherent in
estimates
