As you may remember, the Academy of Sciences of the
U.S.S.R. has invited me to visit thep to ether with
an assistant. I have asked _ of
Princeton University to accompany me and die bias
agreed. We were thinking of departing approximately
August 15 and spending a couple of weeks in Russia
before continuing on to the International Conference
on the Peaceful Uses of Atomic Energy in Geneva in
September.
I am not very anxious to make this trip and, frankly,
I would welcome an excuse for not going. However, I
am willing to go if the Government thinks it is de-
sirable. I am particularly anxious to have your
opinion.
