Approved For Rea a ?00330902: QA .6R1?P80B01676R000700180031`=4 LL UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE Hr. Allen W. Dulles Director Central Intelligence Agency Administration Building 2430 E Street, N. W. Washington 25, 1). C. February 10, 1961 OY LIAISON A sensitive source who has furnished valuable infor- mation in the past concerning the Communist Party, USA (CPUSA), said Timur Timofeevich Timofeev stated in February, 1961, that Soviet Premier Nikita S. Khrushchev will visit the United States in April, 1961, rather than March, 1961, as originally planned. The reason for the postponement is Khrushchev's anticipation that by April the international policies of The Kennedy admin- istration, particularly that regarding disarmament, will have "jelled." Khrushchev feels that this will place him in a better position to formulate his own policies and to deal effectively with the United States. He particularly desires that the dis- armament issue be debated at the United Nations before he comes to the United States. Timofeev did not know the exact date of Iahrushchev's proposed visit. T.imofeev, son of the late . u9ens i)ennis, forc}ter National Chairman of the CPUSA, made these statements in low York City after arriving front Moscow, Russia, to attend his father's funeral. Timofeev was a member of the Soviet Delegation to the 15th Session of the United Nations General Assaembly in the Fall of 1960. because of the sensitive nature of our source, it is requested that the contents of this communication be afforded careful. security and its use restricted to a need-to-know bawls. I am nabinq this information available to other appropriate officials of the Government.
