Our Department would find useful a Special National Intail
glace Estimate on "NATO Country Reactions to Possible s orn
US Nuclear Assistance." Specifically, we need analysis cf tea
reaction of NATO countries to possible US assistance in develoi
an independent French nuclear capability or to the creaboa of a
multilateral NATO capability. The following questions chiefly
concern use
1. W,U the reaction in NATO countries be favorable,
wdavarable or indifferent if the US were to assist
in the developmunt of an independent French unclear
capability either by a) transfer of those items dais
cribed in Section 91c of the Atomic Energy Act or
b) outright transfer of US weapons and delivery systems
