The White House Mayors' Conference, which was announced
at the Cabinet meeting October 9, has been called by the
President for December 14 and 15. The purpose is to dis-
cuss national security problems with the chief executives of
cities having over 75, 000 population.
The President urges the participation of members of the
Cabinet and heads of agencies most concerned with national
security. The briefings of the mayors will not be complete
without you. We should greatly appreciate it if you would
talk on the subject of "Intelligen e Summary, " and participat?
in a brief discussion following. The meeting will be closed
to the press.
We have planned for you to appeal on the program at 10:10 a. i a.
on December 14. The meeting wi l be in the auditorium of the
State Department, 21st and Virgin a Avenue, Northwest.
