In the very near future I will be retired from active
duty in the United States Air Force. I wish to take this
opportunity as one of my parting actions to convey to you
my deep appreciation for the very fine cooperation we in OSI
have received from your agency during the years of my service
as Director of Special Investigations, USAF. Also, I shall
always be grateful for the association which I have been
privileged to have with you in. regard to various important
matters of a counterintelligence nature. This has indeed
been a most profitable and pleasurable experience.
Brigadier General John M. Breit has been assigned to
succeed me as Director of Special Investigations, effective
5 January 1959. I know that he will enjoy the very fine
cooperative relationship that exists between our respective
organizations.
