SUBJECT : Press Release on 6593d Test Squadron
I. This is with regard to the press release on Monday,
9 July, concerning the satellite capsule recovery activities of the
Test Squadron, and your memorandum on this subject dated
0 July.
4. As Director of Central Intelligence. Mr. McCone is
responsible for the protection of all intelligence sources and
methods and, as the NRO agreement specifies. for the security
aspects of that program.
3. In order to avoid continuing erosion of the overall security
of intelligence collection operations, It is requested that in the
future releases which in any way are concerned with intelligence
operations be cleared in advance with the Director of Central
Intelligence.
