Houston noted proposed contacts with Representative Johnson
and Senator Kennedy on the subject of the Communist Youth Festival. He
was also given approval to provide a briefing on the Soviet space program
to Senator Anderson and Senator Margaret Chase Smith.
Cline reported that there would be further meetings with General
Carroll on the Vietnam OB paper. He called attention to a cable about
Ghana. He noted that Ambassadors Kohler and Bohlen agreed that the
assignment of Zorin to Paris might represent the opening of a dialogue
on the .European security question.
DDCI noted that General Johnson had no problems with the
Vietnam OB paper. He noted that he had read General Johnson's report--
which is very closely held.
