Approved For Release 2009/04/10: CIA-RDP80B01676R001500060163-8 30 November 1965 MEMORANDUM FOR THE RECORD Morning Meeting of 30 November 1965 R. J. Smith noted that the two U. S. servicemen recently freed by the Viet Cong were, according to Press reports, making pro-Viet Cong/NVN remarks. He tabled a report on air-to-air missiles in NVN. Kent reported on a meeting at NASA yesterday. He noted that the Indo- Pak Estimate would undergo a clean-up session today and would be before USIB Thursday. reported that he had tried to contact Vance yesterday and would do so again today concerning the 0 briefing. Wheelon initiated a discussion of the pros and cons of a letter to Lockheed and other contractors concerning advertising,within the limits of security, on the YF-12, etc. Wheelon noted that Leo Geary had a parochial interest in demuring on this. The DCI said he would speak to Vance on this matter. Houston noted a query from Senator Russell through Darden concerning Rhodesia. It was agreed that he would offer to furnish a senior officer to brief or send a memo on the intelligence we have on that situation. Bross noted a memo from William Bundy concerning the latter's testi- mony before the PFIAB. Wheelon noted a rather optimistic schedule 25X1 25X1 he noted that Brockway McMillan is back in the NRO circuit and the DCI said he would speak to Secretary Vance about this. H noted FitzGerald noted that since the Agency had given Senator Robert Kennedy a briefing prior to his Latin American tour, they would also debrief him on his return. He noted the dismissal of the Air Force member of the Junta in, Ecuador. (See Action Item 2) The Executive Director tabled two medallions for consideration by the Executive Committee, and the DCI, for possible presentation to employees upon retirement after 15 or 25 years of service. There was a general discus - sion which was largely negative, and the DCI asked that the Executive Director make specific recommendations to him. 1. The DCI requested that an item be included in the President's ally Brief today (OCI in the course o e day 2. The DCI suggested that a memorandum be issued on the situation in Ecuador. (OCI in the course of the week) 3. The DCI requested a status report on the strike force for I 125X1 (DDP in the course of the week) The DCI suggested that an item be carried in the President's Daily Brief This initiated a discussion of efforts by some members of the White House staff to keep the President's Daily Brief to a skeleton.
