Morning Meeting of 19 August 1966
DD/I reported on some new developments in North Vietnam indi-
cating that cruise missiles may be present there. He also noted some
unusual activity relating to SAM's.
DD/I noted that recent NPIC recruiting efforts in Los Angeles,
which included newspaper advertising, had resulted in a good deal of
favorable publicity for the Agency.

from the 303 principals and to take whatever other action is required.
DD/S noted that the road resurfacing program at Headquarters
would be completed this weekend.
Warner reported that the Stennis Preparedness Investigating Sub-
committee would be requesting a briefing from the Director on the
military threat to the U. S. in about two weeks. The Director requested
the DD/I and Warner to discuss the briefing with members of the sub-
committee staff and asked the DD/I to prepare a first-class briefing
for the subcommittee.

Bross reviewed the status of the actions which resulted from the
last PFIAB meeting. He noted that the problem of labeling for publica-
tions had been resolved. He also noted that the review of the NSCID's,
although not yet completed, indicates no changes are required at this
time. He stated that the review of the NSCID's is related in part to the
problem of field inspection and that further study is required of this
aspect. Bross suggested that the Director meet with Mr. Knox for an
informal discussion of the Knox Panel's findings. The Director agreed.
Bross reported that the PFIAB will meet again on 29 September.
DD/S&T reported that the current vehicle is experiencing 25X1
some technical difficulties. He noted that the take from the CORONA
mission is as good as any in the past.
DD/S&T passed to the Director and the Executive Director a list of
Agency technical publications for distribution outside the Agency. He
also provided a distribution list for review by the Director and Executive
Director.
DD/S&T noted that

Executive Director reported that Admiral Raborn had asked him
to inform the members of the Executive Committee of his deep apprecia-
tion for their work during his tenure.
The Director announced that Dr. Wheelon will resign from the
Agency on 23 September to join Hughes Aircraft Corporation. The
Director noted that Carl Duckett would be Acting DD/S&T for the
time being.
