Godfrey discussed Chinese Communist leadership changes. the Chinese leadership situation. reported on the status of an ONE memorandum on DD/S noted that the AID logistics task force on Vietnam has been reduced in membership and scope. He also announced plans to repair U. POW's in Vietnam and the implications of possible information gathering on the part of the POW's. DIA will seek to ascertain facts. (See Action 1) eported on a conversation with General Carroll regarding 25X1 ~discussed General Thomas's views on the development of collection systems targeted on the Soviet ABM program. (See Action 2) Duckett reported that his briefing of BOB Director Schultze on the Soviet space program went well and discussed various implications of 25X1 briefings on this subject. Executive Director noted developments in connection with the Senate debate on the McCarthy resolution. Executive Director discussed a suggestion by General Carter to combine certain substantive intelligence committees. (See Action 3) Executive Director reported that General Whitney was very pleased with his briefing yesterday on the Agency's planning, programming, and budgeting system. Executive Director announced that the proposal for family visits to the Headquarters building has been shelved. 1. DD/I will contact the chairman of the DIA committee with regard to intelligence on the POW's in Vietnam. (DD/I by 20 July) 2. DD/S&T will prepare comments for the DCI's information on the development of collection systems targeted on the Soviet ABM program. (DD/S&T by 22 July) 3. DD/I will prepare recommendations for the DCI's consideration on General Carter's suggestion to combine certain substantive intelli- gence committees.
