DD/I reported on a request from Ambassador Thompson for a sit-down discussion on 28 December on what kinds of answers are being obtained from reconnaissance over the Soviet Union. He pro- poses to make Stoertz the action officer. DD/I called attention to a timely special report on India's food situation from the 23 December Weekly Report. DDCI referred to this morning's news coverage on U. S. and Soviet grain shipments to India, noting that the delivery dates of early March are unrealistic. DD/I said that he will call Secretary McNamara's attention to the re- port in his weekly letter. odfrev noted receipt of a memorandum late yesterday from DDCI 25X1 asked Godfrey and for Kent said that ONE is awaiting concurrences (by 11 a. m.) on the SNIE for today's USIB meeting. DD/I initiated a dis - cussion on the SNIE. Carver said that George Allen is back and that arrangements for a session with Rostow are under way. DDCI said that any report going to the President must certainly show the position of the Director of Central Intelligence.
