Approved For Release 2008/03/03: CIA-RDP80B01676R001500080015-0 8 December 1966 Morning Meeting of 8 December 1966 DD/I said that, in response to Secretary Vance's request to the Director, the Intelligence Directorate has thoroughly examined the possibility of North Korean military action. The results of the exami- nation were essentially negative, and OCI is preparing a paper. (See Action 1) Godfrey reported that, in accordance with the Director's request, he has established a group to examine anomalies in the storage of cruise missiles in Cuba. A memorandum should be ready in three to four days. Godfrey noted) Ia possible coup in Iraq. The subject will be covered in regular publications. With regard to the Watch Committee Report, he will send the Director an additional item this morning concerning a Soviet and East European military exercise. Kent reported to the Director on the substance of the briefing arranged by General Lemley on Soviet strategic capabilities. He ex- pects to receive a copy of the war plan exercise in question. He said that he will distill the essence of the exercise paper for the Director, who asked that Kent include his own critical analysis. Carver reported that the first meeting of the Radical Solutions Group will be held today. There was an internal meeting yesterday to develop an answer to Komer's memorandum on the urgent need for personnel in South Vietnam. In this connection, DD/P called attention to an Agency cable Warner said that Senator Symington's staff was in touch with the Agency yesterday as a result of a telephone call from the Senator, who is in Honolulu. Warner reported on a brief encounter with Congress- man Rivers last night. He will arrange a briefing in response to a request from Congressman Arends.
