DD/I said that Senator Jackson has asked for unclassified information on the Sino-Soviet split by 13 October which he could use in preparing a speech. In connection with Presidential trips, he mentioned that it is standard procedure for his directorate to publish informa- tion which would supplement the Estimates on security. The first such supplement, on the Philippines, is being distributed today. Admiral Taylor asked if the President is considering a stop in South Vietnam, and Carver replied that this is under consideration but he cannot determine how seriously.
