LKW j--" 18 June 1965
1. Mr. Kirkpatrick buzzed to say that he planned to resign from the
Board of the Fairfax County Hospital and that he would like to nominate some -
one from the Agency to take his place since so many Agency employees use
the hospital. He wondered if Bob Bannerman would be willing to do this. I
said that, while Bob would certainly be a fine Board member, I thought Kirk
should not nominate Bob without first discussing it with him. In addition, I
understand that the Board takes quite a bit of one's time, and Bob will be
carrying a very heavy load for the next few months at least. I told Kirk that
I would tell Bob about this and that he could discuss it with Bob after his re-
turn on 28 June.
2. I attended a briefing this morning on Project CHIVE. This project
will require approximately fifty people and a substantial financial outlay.
Mr. Kirkpatrick asked the Office of Central Reference to do some work on
how they could get these people quickly in order to get started with the proj-
ect. A very big management decision will be needed, and undoubtedly it will
fall into my lap. In this connection, Kirk suggested that such a briefing be
given about once a month. It was evident to me that I need a thorough brief-
ing on Project CHIVE to be brought up to date on where the project stands.
