Two more transporters are located on the dock. There is room on the deck of the latter ship to accommodate these two along with the six already loaded. Approved For Release 2004/10/20 : CIA- 0020043-6 25X1 TOP SECRET 25X1 Approved For ReleaslQ64/tWfO 'EIA- DP80B01676R001 NOTICE 25M*1 25X1 25X1 This report is based on analysis of four U-2 photographic missions and four low-level missions Available coverage included the ports of Mariel, La Isabela, Cardenas, La Coloma, Matanzas, Punta Gerardo and Casilda. Photography from eight low-level missions flown was not available at the time of this report. SUMMARY 1. Missile transporters and launching equipment have now begun to appear at the ports of Mariel, Isabela, and Casilda. Approximately half the number of missile transporters and launchers previously identified at the MRBM sites and all six IRBM launch rings are now evident on docks at these ports. This accounts, however, for only aportion of the missile equipment evacuated from the former sites.(Table 1 and Figure 1) 2. At least one Soviet cargo ship with a capability for below-deck missile storage has left the USSR for Cuba and could arrive in about two weeks. 3. Photographic coverage of the known IRBM and MRBIvI sites con- firms that they are being abandoned. Some trucks and tents remain at several sites but these are probably waiting for transport. 4. Examination of photography of port facilities has not indicated any unusual security or containers suggestive of nuclear warheads or nosecones. There is no activity apparent at the probable nuclear bunkers at Remedios, Guanajay, and Sagua La Grande No. 1. 5. There is no indication of abandoning the SA-2 sites in Cuba; of those covered, all were judged to be operational. 25X1 Approved For Release 2004/10/20: CIA-R DR80POI 676R.001 0043-6 TOP SECRET 25X1 F--:::] "7 5X1 Approved For RelealJ04 28 I -RDP80B01676R001 6. Examination of the airports at Holguin and San Julian has not revealed any indication of the presence of nuclear warheads. - 2 RPAARA4A7APAA4A-A-Ar Approved For Release 2004/10/20: CIA-R 20043-6 TOP SECRET 25X1 2?R*1 25X1 25X1 Approved For ReleaseT26t14/1 ?N- F P80B01676R0018 DISCUSSION San Cristobal MRBM Area 1. Site 3 Latest coverage: U-2 Mission 2,2SX1 25X1 25X1 Clouds and haze precludes a detailed observation of the four evacuated launch positions. At least 26 tents, 8 barracks buildings, and 15- 20 vehicles remain in the support area. Sagua La Grande MRBM Area 2. Site 1 Latest coverage: U-2 Mission Evacuation of this launch site is continuing. Although cloud cover pre- cludes a detailed analysis of the four evacuated launch positions, activity in the support area showed a 4-truck convoy moving into the area. There was no activity at the arched-roof building or other miscellaneous, buildings. Approximately 54 vehicles (trucks and trailers) and 26 tents were noted. 3. Site 2 Latest coverage: U-2 Mission The two launch points at the southeast end of this site were visible on the most recent high-altitude photographic coverage. Cloud cover precluded observation of the other two launch positions. The launch positions appear deserted and three missile-ready tents have been removed. Pre-formed concrete arches used in the buildinLy of the probable nuclear warhead storage bunker remain in the same position noted previously. Approximately 25 tents, 5 storage sheds and 77 miscel- laneous vehicles (trucks and/or trailers) were noted in the area. -3- 25X1 25X1 Approved For Release 2004/10/20 CIA- 00020043-6 25X1 TOP SECRET 25X1 Approved For ReleasIQ64/19:k ? . - DP80B01676R001 Air Defense Missiles 2L*1 25X1 4. There is no change in the operational status oi.~the SAM sites. Photography shows that there are Guideline missiles on the launchers. No new construction is apparent at the SAM sites. Chem is no evidence that any of the SAM sites are being dismantled. 25X1 Collateral Reporting of Vehicle Movements 6. The movement of equipment from the Guanajay IRBM area to the port of Mariel is reported i25X1 Convoys of loaded vehicles, some spattered with mud, were ob- served moving to Mariel and returning empty. BEAGLE Bomber Status 7. Photography indicates the presence of 13F AGLE25X1 (IL-28) bombers at two widely separated locations in Cuba.
