Approved For ReleaseSfC ]RDP80B01676R002300040094-2 Deputy Director's Staff Meeting Tuesday, 6 February 1951 Mr. Dulles said that the Attorney General was away for two weeks but that he planned to discuss the status of Public Law 110 with Solicitor General Perlman and perhaps Payton Ford. He believed that the situation was urgent enough to warrant early action. There was discussion of the problem of public relations of the agency with particular reference to the correspondents and columnists who are urging the United States to engage in clandestine operations. It was decided that the matter needed more consideration but that the possibilities were to clear some correspondents as consultants and to talk to others within the restrictions of security. It was reported that the four studies on strategic vulnerability mentioned by the Director had been completed and were being forwarded to State. Mr. Jackson reported that the second meeting with the Joint Chiefs of Staff would not be held until the week of February 12, and that General Bradley would take the initiative in setting up this meeting. Mr. Dulles reported that he Pnd Mr. McConnel had conferred with who will start immediately to make a survey of our Communications organization. tt k and at that time co si ratio F7.;w;. Mr-RbOP !
