There was discussion of a combined diary and it was decided t'1=4t
the Deputy Directors would submit their diaries of the previous day to
Mr. by noon and that he would prepare a consolidated diary for
discussion at the staff meeting the following day.
There was discussion of the Attorney General's possible riling
on Public Law 110 and it was recommended that it be called to the attention
of the Director for discussion with the Attorney General to see whether
he would rule in our favor and also to ask whether we could get better
service from the Department of Justice.
There was discussion of the Harshall letter and the talk with
General Smith will. have with General Bradley and the JCS.

There was discussion of the instructions for the Lirector's Ste
Mr. l-cConnel reported that he had discussed liaison between I :e
Civil Defense Organization and CIA with Governol Caldwell and had ,rude
no commitment.
Mr. Reber reported that he had been discussing scientific
intelligence matters i th the Scientific Intelligence Committee and
would endeavor to come up with recommendations at an early date.
Mr. Reber reported that he had discussed NSC 29 with the
Department of State and would have recommendations from them at an
early date.
Mr. Jackson asked that the letters to the Department
State be expedited.
