Mr. Jackson reported that he had spoken to about
the possibility of his being a. consultant. 0 does not feel he can do
this on a formal paid basis. We may, therefore, consult him info rna"iy
from time to time.
The 3CI stated that Mr. Stassen would be here Friday afternoon.

Mr. II suggested letters should be written for the DCI's sina--ure
who is taking his place. The DCI agreed to write General
Mr. will prepare a letter.

The DCI stated that among other things Ambassador Pauli has been
favorably impressed with CIA personnel overseas. Mr. 0 would like
to play along with Ambassador Pauli at arms length and be on the receiving
end of ideas.
The DCI stated that General will be here on Friday.

The DCI thinks that II still has possibilities and hates to wasi
him out. However, he must be taught guerrilla warfare. Mr. 0 stated
that State Department is still restive about this operation and that
Mr. Rusk would like our effort to be concentrated from areas that

Mr. stated that the matter of assistance to the Third
Force is all up n e air. State Department is of a divided mind. The
DCI believes that the Third Force must be kept alive but that this is
a political dedision for State Department. Mr. will follow t=iffs.
