Director's Meeting

The Director having attended a lengthy NSC Senior Staff Meeting
yesterday stated that a great deal of time had been consumed going over
matters that should have been done in the drafting stage.
Mr. Jackson reported that Tracy Barnes would be away for the next three

various Tibetan personalities in this country and abroad. Lattimore has

attitude toward Lattimore should. be one of covert enmity and that while
he would like to keep information flowing in, he saw no need to answer the
Lattimore letters.
The Director stated that General Carter had asked about the
status and flow of Air Force personnel. Mr. II mentioned that
Colonel Randall of Mrs. Rosenberg's office had also called and that Mr.

Mr. Wisner reported that Admiral has a last official 25X1
act of helping in drafting amendments to NSC 1Q/3. Mr. Wisner has pre-
pared &paper setting forth our position. The DCI wants to see this
paper 'but suggested showing it to Mr. Jackson first.
Mr. Wisner reported that the NSC will shortly act on an
amendment to NSCID No. 5. Mr. Wisner and Mr. Becker have examined these
additional paragraphs carefully and believe them to ~re alright. The
DCI stated that he had concurred in the amendment.
Mr. iisner stated that General Wyman would like to talk to the
DCI about assignment to 0 of certain CIC personnel. The Director said
that this could probably be arranged through G-2 and to have General Wyman
come and see him.
Mr. Wisner stated that if vice-President Barkley would not talk
to WAY, they were considering Secretary Acheson or Dr. Bunche. The DCI
suggested Senator Benton.
Mr. Jackson brought up the question as to whether
he cited some remarks by Mr. Wisner said that this matter
was under constant study. The DCI stated that it was a matter for
General Davison to follow.
