~1r. Dulles referred to the transcript of Caudle s testimony forwarded
by Gordon Gray and the SCI indicated that he had already seen it.
Mr. Dulles noted iV1r. talk with the State Department
regarding Iran and the DCI commen ec tha? there did not seem to be any
spontaneous enthusiasm about the sugs~estion.
N1r. Dulles handed the DCI a clipping on _4,~'E which would auz~ear
in this weeks ILK magazine.
e DCI asked Mr. vaisner to inTestigate the facts with respect to
Mr. commitment to stay with PSB. The DCI was not prepared to approve
a commitment to stay only until September 1.

. u~isner reported that the State Department had finally approved
the operation and the next step was to get the men nor~~inated for
the ommi ee down to ',~ashington for a conference with the DCI and Mr. tlathews
of State. The DCI approved.
M~. Wisner noted that Gordon Gray was .vetting Mallory Brown and als=~
George Morgan on his staff.

I~ir. Becker referred to Dr. Langer's recommmendation that then DG1,G.eny
Gen. Samford's request for an estimate on orally, rather
than by meano. The DCI indicated that he ha rea e paper making such
recommendation and approved,

Mr. Decker also raised Dr. Chadwell's recommendation that a post~o~~ement
be given as to the atomic energy estimate and that the recently cleared consultants
be announced to the IAC. As to the former, the DCI indicated that he wo uld handle.
4s to tflae latter, he indicated that the atomic energy people should ne consu~-ted
and asked to recommend a man they thought best qualified to review such ate estimate.
Immediately after the meeting, I~lr. ~rdisner gave to the DCI a bri::f
report of a much more favorable turnd~~r of events in PSB's consideration of
how to get under way with the preparation of a "National Psychological Strategy".
In this connection, he mentioned Messrs. Bohlen and Nitze from State had m~df~ a
number of helpful suggestions.
