Asked whether or not we had ever received an application for employment from and, if so, what had been done about it. Col. White stated that was an applicant; however, we had nothing for him and he had so been informed. a. Requested and received the Director's approval to approach the Department of Justice in an effort to determine whether they plan to further pursue the matter. b. Noted that the NSC Senior Staff would discuss NSC 114 at its meeting this afternoon and that he wished to take up several points concerning this paper with the Director after the Deputies' Meeting. c. Briefly discussed a Labor meeting to be held in Berlin in July. Noted that iI was in town and asked whether the Director and D/DCI wished to see m. Mr. Dulles stated he had talked with him at dinner recently and the Director noted that he would personally telephone him. a. Referred to the item in the Log concerning Senator Hickenloo er's request for an evaluation on the Alsop column of 18 June and asked 25X1 to reroute this paper to him. After a me discussion, the Director stated he intended to call Senator Hickenlooper. (NOTE: The letter in question has been furnished DCI.) b. Briefly discussed certain problems connected with our Legislative Liaison activities. c. Noted that General Roberts had called on him at the request of Gen. Draper and had indicated that Draper would welcome intelligence support from CIA in the form of assigning a qualified individual from CIA to Draper's Staff. Mr. Becker went on to say that our intelligence could be fed to Draper by the same method as is now used to furnish such information to SHAPE.
