PRESENT: General Smith, Messrs. Wisner, Wolf, Becker,

Noted the item in the Log respecting a request for CIA support for the
Office of Telecommunications Advisor and recommended that we accede to this
request. The Director concurred.

b) Reported that ould "stay in touch with the situation''- and
would remain available for service with the NCFE including membership on the
Board of NCFE if that should prove desirable. He had indicated to Mr. Wisner
that the nature of his new position would be such as to permit him to devote one
or two weeks at a time to this work.
c) Raised the question of the Ocable which put us on the alert for 25X1
possible developments at the end of June and early in July. Mr. Becker observed
that his people saw nothing new or particularly unusual in the cable and 25X1
certainly no indication of a positive intent to step off on an offensive. In
reply to the Director's inquiry as to whether this had been distributed to the
other agencies, Mr. Becker indicated that it had not both because
character of the information contained in it and because most facts which were
included were otherwise known to the other agencies. The Director asked that
it be brought before today's IAC meeting.
d) Noted in connection with the Log item on the Chinese guerrilla Tro
operation in the Canton area

e) Commented on the Log item on the political situation in Burma,
expressing the view that it had been prepared for American consumption.
MMr. Becker concurred in feeling that it was an essentially inaccurate and
overly optimistic report.
Reported on very satisfactory talks with the Operations people in the
Agency and noted that he is leaving Washington tonight and leaving the country
Sunday night.
