Noted the item in the Log of 30 - 31 May concerning 2 5X1 and stated that he 0 should be seen by our psychiatric peopie upon s return. Mr. Wisner undertook to have this done. a. Referred to the item in the Log of 30 - 31 May concerning espionage activities of the Army and stated he would like to see this communication. W. Wisner undertook to show this paper to D/DCI. S. ~. b. Referred to Mr. Hedden's cable on the (IN 47358) 25X1 and,..after some discussion, undertook to (1) pursue this matter farther with the Treasury Department; (2) recommend to the DCI CIA action on this problem; (3) send a reply to the above-cited cable. a. Stated G-1 had turned down our request that Col. Edwards remain with CIA and, after some discussion, the Director stated he would call Gen. McAuliffe and/or Secretary Pace on this matter since it was his (the Director's) desire that Col. Edwards remain assigned to CIA. b. Noted that (1) had accepted a position as one of the Assistant Secretary Generals of K ; (2) II was a cleared consultant 25X1 and would be available for consultation with any of our people if deemed desirable. a. Referred to the item in the Log of 30 - 31 May concerning nd asked the Director if he desired to see him. The DCI stated it was not incumbent upon CIA to assume any responsibility for his visit and as long as State and Defense would handle him "officially" he felt that our purposes could best be served by giving a "small, quiet, informal dinner" for him. Mr. Wisner undertook to look into this and subsequently recommended Friday, 13 June. (NOTE: The Director is being asked whether this date is suitable.) In connection with this dinner, the Director asked Mr. Wolf to look into the problem of using one of our "safe houses" for this and other luncheons and/or dinners.
