It was agreed that the operation should be continued

d. Reported that he had seen Senator Saltonstall who had suggested tint

pleased with the personnel~stations~and operations he had visited in the
Far East.

b. Reported that he had passed along Ambassador Conant's negative
reaction on the 0 question to General Smith, Mr. Mathews, and C. D.
Jackson. The Director will raise this matter at the PSB meeting on 29 July.
Mr. Helms reported that he would have a related paper on food and material
drops in 0 available before that time.
Mr. Amory:
Reported on the early warning problem, suggesting that I _J
would be the man to handle this for CIA. The Director favored prompt action
and thought that Mr.O could take care of the matter,
and be back in a week.

Colonel White:
Raised the problem of operating profits of $2,500 which have come into
the Agency from the cafeterias in M and Q Buildings over the past two years
and recommended that this be turned into a welfare fund for the benefit of
CIA employees. He suggested he be empowered to appoint a committee of 5,
representing the several parts of the Agency, to administer this fund and
to draw up a charter governing its disbursement. It was agreed that:; he
should work this out with Mr. Kirkpatrick.

b. Noted that the 3-power talks with Yugoslavia would probably be
resumed in Washington in August.
Mr. Kirkpatrick:
Suggested that we brief Senator Knowland before his forthcoming trip,
now set for September-October. He mentioned also the advisability of brier"ic
Senator Hickenlooper before he departs on his trip.
Drew the Director's attention to the New York Times article by
Kenneth Love and suggested its possible use. The Director noted that he
had read the article and had taken steps for its wider exploitation.
