Asked what had been done to obtain information on the Trans- Siberian Railroad in view of the fact that Noted that the 30th of May and the ~+th of July, which are holidays, fall on Saturday and recommended that these days be treated as regular holidays. The Director approved and stated we should provide for regular holiday coverage in the Agency as usual. Reported he had heard that VOA was heading toward elitainating their programs to the free world and concentrating on its broadcasts to the Tron Curtain countries. Mr. Wisner suggested this might be a matter for discussion at a PSB Luncheon. The Director approved and asked DDfP to furnish him a brief memorandum. Mr. Amory: Reported that he was seeing General Porter today regarding the IAC carrying the ball on the US contribution to the annual estimate for NATO. Mr. Kirkpatrick: Stated that the Chief Counsel of the McCarthy Committee had asked CIA for the answers to a series of questions on China trade. After some discussion it was agreed to notify the Counsel that MSA was "bird-dogging China trade with the support of the intelligence community.
