(1) United States Caurses of Action in the Event of Breakdown of the Politi-
cal Conference in Korea; (2) United States Policy Toward Communist China--
wauld be discussed by the NSC Planning Board at its meetir~ today, snd
stated he had provided DD~I with some very brief comments which he (DD/~')
recommended for inclusion in each of these papers respective7.ty. The Directo~^
said he did not believe it necessary to spell out in detail any covert
activities which might be required to implement these papers) and stated
that the language used therein should be broad enough to provide an umbre.l.r~.
antler which we could operate.
Mr. Amory:
Noted that Imo. Ned Williams who had been designated as the FOA Chief
in Spain was being briefed in the Directors Conference Room on Saturday,
10 Octobers and suggested that DD/`P might wish to have representatives
present. Messrs ~,nd Sheldon undertook to designate officers to
attend. (NOTE: Subsequent to the Meetings the time for this briefi~~g
was set for 10:00 a.m.)
