DEPUTIES' MEETING
Monday, 25 April 1955
PRESENT: Mr. Dulles, General Cabell, Messrs. Wisner, Amory,
Kirkpatrick, Bissell, Helms, Lloyd, Sheldon,
Mr. Dulles:

a. Asked Mr. Wisner to find out whether State plans to
pull together the results of the Bandung Conference. The
Director noted that possibly we should contribute to this and,
in any event, felt it should be done. Mr. Wisner said CIA
should tap those people whom we had briefed, and Mr, Helms
remarked that a cable had already gone out to do this. Mr.
Amory suggested that a round-up piece should be included in
this week s Wei and also suggested that the Director might
wish to hold an off-the-record dinner for selected newspaper
correspondents who had attended this meeting. The Director said
this was a good idea and he would consider it.
b. Stated he had been advised that was 25X1
planning to play up on radio liberation tne meeting of t e U.S.
and Soviet soldiers at the Elbe in 1945 and asked DD/P to find
out about this. The Director said that he was not too keen
about this plan and indicated he felt it should be called off.
co Noted that Ambassador Warren had returned and stated
he would like to see him, General Cabell suggested that we
invite him to lunch and undertook to do so. The Director said
he would attend.
d. Noted a cabl Iwith respect to
the forthcoming visit there by Congressman Walter and Scott
McLeod in connection with the admission of refugees to the U.S.

1. Asked Mr. Helms to have a look at Joseph Alsopts
column of today which deals with the University situation in
Japan.
Mr. Kirkpatrick:
Noted we to cancel one of our contracts with
in view of the fact that TSS, DD/S
own inspectors strongly feel that thi
s company is not
living up to the terms of its agreement in this instance. Mr.
Kirkpatrick said as a result of this cancellation we might expect
some pressure from the Hill, aid noted if things get too rough
