Approved For Release 2002/08/21 : CIA-RDP80B01676R0026001306?0J 0373 30 December 1953 I SORAIDUM FOR: Deputy Director of Central Intelligence SUBJECT . Clearance Letters under Executive Order 10450 In accordance with our conversation about the letter from the Director which requested in connection with his clearance, we have checked with the Department of Justice and they point out that the 1950 Act on which the Executive Order is based requires that the individual be informed specifically of the determination of the Head of the Agency. They state that it is common practice to have this information given in a letter from the Head of the Agency to the individual. I believe, therefore, that request is consistent with general practice and recommend signature by the Director. F 25X1 LAWRENCE R.
