1, 1962, the Treasury Department will inaugurate the
Bond campaign undertaken since the Korean War. The purpose of
this campaign will be to encourage more American citisens to buy
extra Savings Bonds, either by cash or through the Payroll Savings
Plan.
l:reedcm Bond Drive -- the first full scale nation-wide Savings
federal employees have traditionally taken the lead in the
Payroll Savings Plan, and we are especially anxious to have the
cooperation of all Federal Agencies in the forthcoming campaign,
A creditable increase in Savings Bond purchases by Goverment
personnel will provide a fine example for privet, industry through-
out the country.
So that you may be personally apprised of our plane for the
campaign, I have asked William S. Neal, National Director of our
Savings Bonds Division, to call on you to discuss ways in which
your Department can help us in this effort. He will telephone
your office for an appointment, and I would personally appreciate
your giving him a few minutes of your time at your earliest
convenience.
