25 YEAR RE-REVIEW ~ `'`' ~
i Escecutiv~ Regictrg
October 13, 1962
The Honorable John A. McCone
Director
Central Intelligence Agency
Washington 25, D. C.
Dear John:
I dictate this from the hospital; where I
am undergoing tests in preparation for some surgery.
My apologies to you for sending a dictated note.
I do want to thank you, though, for your
understanding message which reached me in North
Carolina after the death of my mother. While she
had lived a very long and good life and while the
end came really as a release, it was, nevertheless,
a deep wrench for her children, and the understand-
ing words of our friends meant much.
I regret ever so much that this episode
in the hospital will prevent my meeting with you on
Monday as we had planned in Washington and our being
present at the dinner for you and Mrs. McCone at the
Taylors:
While I am out of circulation, Bill Baker
will be acting in my behalf as chairman of the
Presidents Foreign Intelligence Advisory Board.
Yours cordially,
~.
Killian, Jr.
Signed in
Dr. Killian~s absence
