The White House
You will recall that Congressman Osmers raised
some searching questions abut the performance of the
intelligence community during the Cuban affair last fall.
He sent you a copy of his letterr, and you asked to see
my reply.
Attached is a copy of a coordinated reply prepared
by the Central Intellig. ac. Agency and the Defense
Intelligence Agency. I b*ve agreed with Congressman
Vinson that the reply need not be delivered formally.
I met with Mr. Vinson and his sub-committee
including
boUeve he has a better appreciation of what the situatic*
actually was and what steps were taken by the intelligen+
community. Mr. Osmsrrs seemed reasonably satisfied ,
with my brielg.
