It goes without saying that the staff and faculty and all who are
connected with the Spacial Warfare School were highly pleased with your
letter of 17 August. It has given us a new motivation to work even
harder and to try to continue to live up to the impressions that your
representatives have gained here.
Our courses have come a long way in the last year. Their content
is not only a tribute to our own people who have worked long hours on
them, but also to the representatives of your Agency and those of the
Department of State, AID and USIA who have collaborated in their prepara-
tion. The complexity of counterinsurgency is a constant challenge. It
is a changing picture and there are no "pat answers" to its solution. No
one appreciates this more than we do and no one is more thankful for
occasional kind words from the consumers of our academic product.
Thank you again for your letter which I am circulating to my staff,
and be assured that representatives of your Agency are more than welcome,
both in the capacity of students and visitors who request briefings.
