.mss ,~ ~~r Approved For Release 2009/01/02 CIA-RDP80B01676R003100170015-6 6 May 1963 MEMORANDUM FOR: Director of Central Intelligence SUBJECT : Temporary Removal of In-Town Office from East Building REFERENCE : Memo dtd 23 Apr 63 to DCI fr DD/S, same subject 1. In accordance with your instructions we have attempted to locate office space for you in the Executive Office Building and have been advised by the White House (Bromley Smith), as well as the Commissioner, Public Buildings Service, that no space is available. The office formerly used by General Maxwell Taylor is now occupied by a study group from the White House. Furthermore, we believe it would be necessary to obtain at least three additional adjacent rooms in order to accommodate your needs. Both the White House and PBS consider this to be impossible. 2. The White House suggested that space might be available on Jackson Place where some buildings have been vacated. However, the Com- missioner, PBS advises that demolition wort here will be started almost immediately. 3. The Commissioner, PBS offered to lease commercial space for us, but we did not pursue this since we felt i_t would not he acceptable from a security point of view. 4. Since the Matomic Building is not acceptable, we suggest that we retain the present facilities in East Building and take every precaution to assure ourselves of access at all times. L. K.
